Setting the Holiday Spirit

The struggle is real for me around the holidays. My family is coming over for Christmas, how do I take these Christmas items and make a table setting? Better yet, how do I do it without making it look cluttered and like I just threw glitter on the table in a panic? So, I pinned Amy down, and forced her to lay out two unique holiday table centerpiece displays! One more traditional and one more natural:

Begin with a table runner of your choosing. Something solid toned works best as you’ll be adding more busier things on top.

Add some height to your display, by elevating a couple vertical items. Having one item higher than the other creates visual interest.

Next: You’ll need a focal point: So grab a swag from your wall or even a bowl arrangement to create a centerpiece for the middle of your display.

Insert a pine stem by bending and hiding it's stem underneath the main centerpiece design.

Next add a stem with color to match the main centerpiece. This creates the illusion of one long centerpiece design.

Work in series of 3. 3 staggered height objects on the left for example (above)

VOILA!

PART II | A “Natural” Inspired Table Centerpiece

Following along the same lines, the centerpiece starts off with a table runner in a neutral hue, followed by staggered heights of items, a floral centerpiece takes main stage, and then we add to the edges to create the illusion of one long piece!

Begin with a Neutral Runner Base, and add your swag centerpiece.

Add your 3 vertical items to create dimension. This time, try adding them to the center.

Add a cozy Luminara "flikr flame" candle to the mix for some extra home-y goodness :D

Amy's secret weapon: Bend the end of a pine stem and hide underneath the main centerpiece to extend the length of it!

Add a few smaller, shorter items to the mix in a series of 3 and your look is complete!

The formula for a table centerpiece is really pretty simple afterall! 3 short things, 3 tall things, a centerpiece & table runner, and two extra pine stems! What look will you create for the holidays?
